Think of it like this. The ‘fire’ is hell. The ‘fuel’ is perishing human souls. As Paul wrote, “woe to me if I do not preach the gospel” (1 Corinthians 9:16 – NIV). For true disciples of Jesus, the ‘fire’ is world evangelism and the ‘fuel’ is the zeal of the LORD Almighty that will accomplish it in our generation.
The phrase ‘fuel for the fire’ itself is taken from a book in the Bible called Isaiah. Isaiah son of Amoz was a prophet who preached around 700BC, warning the people judgment was coming, a judgment so devastating and so severe, he foretold that starving parents would even resort to eating their own children.
“By the wrath of the LORD Almighty
the land will be scorched
and the people will be fuel for the fire;
no-one will spare his brother…
Each will feed on the flesh of his own offspring.” (Isaiah 9:19, 20 – NIV84.)
So, intended as a warning in these last days to the unrepentant and unbelieving, this album Fuel for the fire will prayerfully also serve as an encouragement and a spur to those fighting the good fight, making disciples of all nations and loving our God and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
